Henry Allen

& the

New Swing Set

I was steeped in world culture from an early age. Growing up in Europe and Latin America have had a profound impact on my work as an artist, educator and parent. Surviving cancer, overcoming obesity, and losing my 13 year old son to brain cancer in 2008, have taught me many lessons in courage, empowerment and integrity.

I am a jazz vocalist and Master of Ceremonies, performing regularly at venues throughout Massachusetts with my band, Henry Allen & the New Swingset, which includes a number of excellent rotating musicians. I am also a regular vocalist with The Cape Ann Big Band.

I am the managing director of Henry Allen's North Shore Folklore Theatre Company, based in Gloucester, MA. Folklore & more on the North Shore! (www.NorthShoreFolk.org)

I also am the founder and executive director of The Brain Candy Project, a charitable program that supports parents who are living in hospitals with their critically ill children. (www.BrainCandyProject.org)

Great harmonies and some amazing guitar work by our fearless leader Eddie G. make this band one of the best collaborations on the North Shore.

Liz Frame & the Kickers

Sounds that are gleaned from inspiration ultimately create a sound that inspires others. It’s a continuum that’s at the core of great music, music that exists for the ages and not merely within transitory circumstance. Indeed, Boston-based singer-songwriter Liz Frame knows this all too well. She was weened on the music of her parents’ generation, absorbing the influence of their heartland heroes -- immortal and iconic artists like Jimmie Rogers, The Weavers, B.B. King and Elvis Presley, to name but a few. It became deeply rooted in her musical psyche, so much so that she began writing her own music at the tender age of nine, and after picking up her first guitar at fourteen, it found her performing in front of audiences while still in her early teens. Not surprisingly, her music of choice was honest, unbridled Americana, a sound that continues to represent the disparate styles that captured her imagination so early on.

Backed by her band, The Kickers -- (read more here)

How to honor the legacy of a band deemed sacred? To tread on holy ground is perilous, and must be done with the intent and spirit of a disciple—Pay attention to the intricacies of the magic, explore the far ends of the innovation, strive for ever-growing ability, and let the purity of the love for the music drive it all.

Drummer Clementine is the founding member of ZEPPARELLA. From the beginning of her musical career, her goal has been to be onstage every night. The pursuit of that goal has led Clementine to constantly tour the US and Europe in projects as diverse as Bottom, AC/DShe, The House Of More, The Solid, Francis Bakin, and Stars Turn Me On. She tackles the best rock drumming ever written with her own emotionally powerful style, bringing the Motown influence of the Bonham groove to the forefront. The profound musical connection established with Gretchen Menn (guitar), Angeline Saris (bass), and Noelle Doughty (vocals) creates the bond required to do this great music justice. Zepparella

Danielia Cotton

Danielia Cotton is a fiery blues-rock artist who doesn'tlike comparisons. Although, with the release of her debut disc, she was earning them with such titans as Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, and the Rolling Stones. Cotton, according to a mounting pile of press materials, grew up in rural Hopewell, NJ, as one of only seven black children at the local high school -- thus the title of her first full length album, Small White Town.

Inspiration for a career in music came from her mother, a little-known jazz singer, and two aunts. The three women sang at church with the rest of their sisters in a gospel group called Brooks Ensemble, igniting a passion for inside Cotton to make her own music, her own way. Outside of church, though, her musical tastes leaned in an unlikely direction. AC/DC, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, and Todd Rundgren -- along with great soul R&B from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Donnie Hathaway -- formed the soundtrack to Cotton's youth, and shreds of the hard rock bands' fury and of Rundgren's literate sensitivity shade her songs.  --(read more here)
